Matthew Morello began his fine woodworking career with a passion for scrollwork at age eight, this led to many other wood crafts and the study of fine arts. At seventeen he became a student of renown Canadian luthier Sergei de Jonge. After which, Matthew spent his time building in his own shop and studying the finest stringed instruments, researching structure and design. In European instrument museums, he was inspired by the scrollwork inlay that adorned the bodies of 18th 19th century instruments and decided to recreate this technique that has been long abandoned. This artistic expression portrays a level of dedication and attention to detail that carries through-out the rest of the instrument. Years of building and slowly incorporating new ideas with success have given Matthew a building style that is completely his own, producing a signature commanding voice that excels in each respective instrument. In his years of building he has acquired recognition for his french polish technique and continues to french polish most of his guitars.
